What takes a year to complete?

Revolution

The year-long cycle is the Earth’s revolution around the Sun. Revolution means the motion of one object around another, and for Earth that complete loop takes about 365 days. This is different from rotation, which is the daily spin on Earth’s axis (about 24 hours), and from precession, the slow wobble of the axis that takes roughly 26,000 years. The path the Earth follows around the Sun is its orbit; finishing one full orbit corresponds to one revolution.
